This off leash dog beach is so much fun for our setter. She loves running up and down the beach and there’s lot of room to play fetch with all the driftwood sticks. Unfortunately, the water fountains to rinse your dog off and for your feet don’t work, so make sure to bring lots of dog towels for your car. But there are Porta potty’s.

Yes, while it's true you can let your dog off leash here......its NOT like a traditional off leash dog park that is totally enclosed. There is nothing to stop your dog from going all the way down the beach to who knows where or from going the same route as the "people" entrance and going out into the parking lot or onto the road. Just FYI for those who don't have 100% recall.

Came here for a quick visit, and had our dinner picnic while waiting for the sunset. Absolutely gorgeous views and amazing experience. Highly recommend.

Lovely spot! Perfect for a day at the beach, it’s long, deep, and sandy. We found lots of silver dollars and enjoyed using the drift wood to build huts. Because the beach is so deep the water stays pretty warm close to shore this time of year. It was also shallow for the kids to play in. Not really deep enough to swim. The sandy bottom is clean and smooth. There are rocky areas as well. Loved seeing all of the off leash dogs romp around. The only restrooms are porta potty’s, gets smelly after a long, hot day. Close by is nice little downtown with a great taco and salad spot, also serving margaritas to-go. Definitely spot there on your way.

Today was our first time here. It was low tide so we were able to walk out pretty far. This place has an off leash dog area but there were dogs off leash all over the place. Not complaining, just commenting. All the dogs there were having a blast. It wasn’t an issue. The beach itself is quite large and there is ALOT of driftwood! There have been quite a few neat little structures built with the wood which we found to be pretty fun. Lots of sea shells and sand dollars to be found! When we arrived, an ice cream truck was also arriving at the same time, which was pretty cool but he didn’t accept card, so that kinda sucked. They do have several port-a-potty’s there. When we first entered I noticed a shower/spigot thing for rinsing off before leaving and was totally banking on taking advantage of that on the way outta there, only to discover that it didn’t work. Or it was turned off for the day? Not sure but the area around it looked dry so it didn’t appear to have been working at all today. Totally disappointing. Also, there is pretty much no parking here. Definitely not enough, especially for how big and popular this spot is! There were cars lined up down the street on both sides of the road. We had to park pretty far down the road from the actual park. Overall good experience though. I’d definitely come back.

Probably my favorite off-leash area, but you have to come prepared. There is significantly more beach at low tide - 100s of yards to the water vs. 10-20 between the driftwood and the water. Getting to the off-leash area is a bit of a hike. There is a trail specifically for avoiding people picnicking with your dogs, but eventually it runs into driftwood you have to climb over. No freshwater available so you have to bring your own. Very limited parking lot parking. Lots of roadside parking but you might have to walk a bit to get down to the beachhead.

We visited this place in March which is still a cold month, and maybe that's why I didn't enjoy the place as much as I should have. The beach is full of drift wood, dead crabs and sea weeds which I personally don't enjoy. I did see a lot of locals come here for their dog walks. The park has a dog free area where the dogs can roam freely. Overall, It is a decent place. If you are planning to visit once, try to do it in summer months.

One of my favourite places for a stroll on the beach. The bluffs are always changing and the shelters made of storm tossed logs are cute. Worth a look. Mussels courtesy of Bayview taproom
